Aishwarya Lakshmi Pattu began as a single loom shed on the outskirts of Kanchipuram, where our grandmother learned to read a sari the way most people read a book, by its border, its zari and the weight of its silk. Three generations later, we still work with the same families of weavers, keeping alive patterns that would otherwise have been lost to time.
Every Kanjivaram that leaves our boutique has been hand-checked for the purity of its zari, the evenness of its weave and the integrity of its temple border, the same three checks our founder insisted on, sari after sari, for over forty years.
Our Craft
The Weave
Each sari takes seven to twenty days on the loom, depending on the density of the pattern, pure mulberry silk, thread by thread.
The Zari
Our zari is tested for silver and gold content before a single thread is set on the loom, so the shine you see today still holds decades on.
The Heritage
Archival temple, rudraksha and mango motifs are re-drawn by hand from patterns our family has preserved since the 1970s.
